MIT has a responsibility to generate positive learning opportunities for its students, preserve the integrity of its research enterprise and gain and maintain the public’s trust. A robust process for discussion, disclosure, review and management of real or perceived conflicts of interest (COI) is an important part of meeting that responsibility.
It is the policy of the Institute that its officers, faculty, staff, and others acting on its behalf have the obligation to avoid ethical, legal, financial, or other conflicts of interest and to ensure that their activities and interests do not conflict with their obligations to the Institute or its welfare.
